Get cracking on free range eggs

The Federal Government is finally creating a national egg standard that will define what 'free range' actually means.

Consumers and animal groups all expect the same thing from the free range egg label: that layer hens actually go outside.

Unfortunately, the standard-setting process is being hijacked by Big Ag.

Intensive egg producers are lobbying for a free range standard that only requires producers to ensure that hens have access to the outside. This is a dangerous requirement that could result in thousands of hens having only a few small openings to escape outside ? a standard far removed from consumer expectations of ?free range?.

Want to stop Big Ag from getting its way?

Now is the time for you to lobby your relevant state and territory ministers and demand that free range actually means free range!
